The Statewide Pedestrian Master Plan has announced their Public Meeting Schedule. Please join us for a meeting in your community to speak up for Safe Routes to School!

What is the Statewide Pedestrian Master Plan?

The Hawaii Department of Transportation will be developing a Statewide Pedestrian Master Plan to assess the needs of Hawaii’s transportation system in terms of the pedestrian environment. The plan will provide guidance to staff by providing an implementation plan for infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects and programs, performance measures to assess progress, and pedestrian policy and design guidelines.  The plan will support a multimodal transportation system and improve the safety, connectivity, mobility and accessibility of our State highway* system.

* The Hawaii Safe Routes Hui urges HDOT to work with Counties to identify local roads in the plan as many pedestrian routes are local roads.
